The words soft and mohawk don’t always go in the same sentence. Mohawks are known for their harsh lines and punk rock appeal. Professional hairstylist Erical Bryant from Gifted Hands Hair Salon in Fayetteville, NC has changed all of that. Erical created this short, curly, mohawk hairstyle for black women that breaks all of the old traditions about mohawks. This look is soft and elegant rather than hard and edgy. A professional businesswoman could wear this curly mohawk to any corporate event. The raised hair in the middle is created with flipped up curls instead of a drastic mohawk haircut. This short, curly, mohawk hairstyle for black women is great for anyone wanted to ride the edge of fashion, in a subtle sort of way.
This mohawk hairstyle is interesting because it was achieved though the curl pattern and not the cut. Erical Bryant used flipped up curls to create the mohawk look. Short Curly Mohawk Hairstyle for Black Women
To achieve this look, Erical Bryant started with a soft precision haircut. She left the sides short but not bald like a traditional mohawk. The length in the sides gives Erical the opportunity to create a beautiful curl pattern throughout the hairstyle. The large directional curls in the back were created with Marcel irons. In the top, Erical used flipped up curls to create the height of the mohawk. In the front, Erical added a small number of hair extensions with some golden-brown highlights in the front also. The length in the front is used to finalize the mohawk look.

The back of this short curly mohawk hairstyle gives a great look at the v-shaped mohawk in the back. The golden brown highlights in the front of this mohawk help to add definition to the curls flowing in the front.
